  11. Here's the beginning of a script I'm working on which introduces the Dominion.
  12. The script only covers about the first ten minutes of the show, but the major
  13. revealation about the Dominion takes place at the beginning.  Any comments
  14. are appreciated of course.  Thanks and enjoy! (now if the writers only hold
  15. off talking about the Dominion and I can finish the script before next
  16. season starts filming)

  19. EXT - SPACE
  20. A small Federation science vessel, the U.S.S. Kepler, drops out of warp and 
  21. approaches a planet with two moons.
  22.  
  23. INT - KEPLER'S BRIDGE
  24. The bridge is populated by the Vulcan Captain Sokar, Lieutenant Nguyen at the 
  25. helm, and several others in the background including one security officer.
  26.  
  27. CAPTAIN SOKAR
  28. Proceed at one quarter impulse towards the class M planet.  Are there any signs
  29. of the two ships.
  30.  
  31. LIEUTENANT NGUYEN
  32. Negative, sir.  Scanning planet.  This planet appears to have a much higher
  33. level of technology than the others.
  34.  
  35. Bridge begins to shake.

  37. EXT - KEPLER
  38. The ship is engulfed in a beam

  40. INT - KEPLER'S BRIDGE
  41. LIEUTENANT NGUYEN

  43. Captain, we've been caught in some kind of tractor beam originating from the
  44. second moon!  It's slowly draining our shields as well.  I estimate two minutes
  45. before shield collapse.
  46.  
  47. CAPTAIN SOKAR
  48. Open hailing channels.  This is Captain Sokar of the Federation survey ship
  49. Kepler.  You have committed a hostile...
  50.  
  51. A female Badarojan, who looks just like a Bajoran, appears on the Kepler's
  52. view screen.
  53.  
  54. BADAROJAN 1
  55. (interrupting)
  56. I am of the Dominion.  You will drop your shields and transfer all data in
  57. your computer banks now, or you will be destroyed.
  58.  
  59. LIEUTENANT NGUYEN
  60. (surprise)
  61. A Bajoran?
  62.  
  63. The Badarojan shows a look of surprise and quickly turns as the view screen
  64. goes blank.
  65.  
  66. CAPTAIN SOKAR
  67. Warp seven Lieutenant Nguyen, try and break that tractor beam.
  68.  
  69. EXT - KEPLER
  70. The beam suddenly intensifies growing much more opaque and shifting tone.

  72. INT - KEPLER'S BRIDGE
  73. Bridge shakes intensely.
  74.  
  75. LIEUTENANT NGUYEN
  76. Shields have collapsed.
  77.  
  78. CAPTAIN SOKAR
  79. Computer, initiate computer records purge of all class alpha data.
  80. Authorization Sokar omega two zeta seven.  Lieutenant, launch the ship's log
  81. and recordin...
  82.  
  83. Suddenly, three Badarojan officers and one shape-shifter in it's amorphous
  84. form beam onto the bridge.  An "arm" of the shape shifter knocks down
  85. Lieutenant Nguyen.  The security officer fires at the shape-shifter with no
  86. effect.  The alien's fire at and kill several crew members including the
  87. security officer.  The three along with the shape-shifter approach Sokar.

  89. BADAROJAN 2
  90. Where is this place you called Bajor?
  91.  
  92. CAPTAIN SOKAR
  93. (slightly flustered)
  94. I ... I do not know what you are referring to.
  95.  
  96. The shape-shifter approaches and engulfs Sokar, killing him.  Lieutenant Nguyen
  97. slowly rises and touches the control panel.  One of the Badarojan's turns at
  98. the sound and fires at Nguyen.

  100. EXT - KEPLER
  101. A small pod flies from the Kepler at high speed.

  107. EXT - STATION
  108.  
  109. INT - QUARK'S BAR
  110. Bashir and Garak are sitting at one of Quark's tables.
  111.  
  112. GARAK
  113. "The Dominion of Pa", "The Ring of Life",  the great works of Bajoran
  114. literature are untold millennia old.  The Bajoran religious texts were
  115. completed while humans and Cardassians were still hurling spears at woolly
  116. mammoths and grok pols.
  117.  
  118. BASHIR
  119. Bajoran scholars studied on dozens of worlds before the war.  I studied Daro
  120. myself while I was at Star Fleet Medical School.
  121.  
  122. GARAK
  123. We brought the war, they were a peaceful people.  The military had control
  124. over most of society and needed to continue to expand to survive.
  125.  
  126. Garak glances across the bar towards Quark and back to Bashir.

  128. GARAK

  130. Have you been taking a liking to my surveillance lessons?
  131.  
  132. BASHIR
  133. Yes.  If you notice, it seems Quark is up to something.  See the way he keeps
  134. looking around, as if expecting someone to show up any second.

  136. GARAK
  137. Good.  What else?
  138.  
  139. BASHIR
  140. I'd say he's worried about something...  
  141.  
  142. Bashir glances to then end of the room and sees Odo who is also observing
  143. Quark.

  145. BASHIR
  146. (cont'd)
  147. I see why.  It seems Odo has taken an interest in our subject as well.
  148.  
  149. Quark approaches Bashir and Garak.
  150.  
  151. QUARK
  152. Anything I can get for you gentlemen?

  154. BASHIR
  155. No thank you Quark.
  156.  
  157. GARAK
  158. Earlier the good Doctor and I were discussing the Bajoran culture and religion.
  159.  
  160. QUARK
  161. Is that so?
  162.  
  163. GARAK
  164. Yes.  Isn't it amusing, Doctor, that old Cardassian soldiers are so interested
  165. in acquiring Bajoran religious artifacts. Some have quite extensive collections
  166. that they began during the occupation and are expanding this very day.
  167.  
  168. Quark begins to squirm a little
  169.  
  170. GARAK
  171. (cont'd, to Quark)
  172. Cardassian soldiers always seem to have the money to purchase such items
  173.  
  174. QUARK
  175. (flustered)
  176. I wouldn't know.  Excuse me Doctor.  I have someone to attend to.
  177.  
  178. BASHIR
  179. Yes, of course, Quark.
  180.  
  181. Quark leaves Bashir and Garak.

  183. BASHIR
  184. What was that all about?
  185.  
  186. GARAK
  187. Let's just say that there's a number of ways to improve upon simple visual
  188. surveillance.
  189.  
  190. INT - QUARK'S BAR
  191. Quark walks up to Odo who is waiting at the far end of the bar.
  192.  
  193. QUARK
  194. What brings you by today, Odo?  Just the usual harassment or do you have
  195. something special planned for me today.
  196.  
  197. ODO
  198. Perhaps I am simply enjoying your renowned hospitality.
  199.  
  200. Quark begins to turn and leave.
  201.  
  202. QUARK
  203. Not likely. 
  204.  
  205. ODO
  206. Indeed.
  207.  
  208. Quark turns around with realization.
  209.  
  210. QUARK
  211. Why don't you go entertain the paying customers.  How about that Cardassian
  212. neck trick, or maybe you could try turning into a Dabo girl?

  215. Hmmph.

  217. Odo starts to walk out then turns around.

  221. You wouldn't happen to know anything about this smuggler the Bajorans caught,
  222. would you? Apparently he was bringing stolen Bajoran religious relics to the
  223. station.

  225. QUARK
  226. Why Odo, you know I would never-

  228. ODO
  229. (interrupting)
  230. I'm sure.  It's a shame he is refusing to cooperate, things would go better
  231. for him if he turned in his cohorts.
  232.  
  233. QUARK
  234. It's nice to know you have his best interests in mind.  I don't suppose
  235. shape-shifters have any concept of loyalty.
  236.  
  237. ODO
  238. Rule of Acquisition number one-eighteen, if I'm not mistaken:  All loyalty is
  239. for profit.
  240.  
  241. Odo smiles and resumes his exit.  Quark frantically motions Rom.  Rom
  242. approaches Quark.
  243.  
  244. QUARK
  245. Did you make sure those smugglers didn't know who they were suppose to meet on
  246. the station.
  247.  
  248. ROM
  249. (slightly trembling)
  250. Yes brother.  Each has part of a message, only when the meet each other can
  251. they decode the message to come to the bar.  Is it not brilliant brother, I
  252. though of it my-

  254. QUARK
  255. (interrupting)
  256. You idiot Rom!  One of the smugglers was captured trying to get off Bajor.  I
  257. have half an ear to get out of the Bajoran artifact trade.  Those Bajorans take
  258. their religion too seriously.

  260. ROM
  261. Yes brother.
  262.  
  263. EXT - RUNABOUT
  264.  
  265. INT - RUNABOUT
  266. Dax and O'brien sitting at the helm.
  267.  
  268. DAX
  269. Benjamin tells me Jake's really enjoying his work with you.

  271. O'BRIEN
  272. Yeah, he's a good kid.  Just yesterday I...  Hold on, I'm picking up an object
  273. heading towards us at warp nine-point-nine!  It's a starship flight recorder!
  274.  
  275. DAX
  276. I'm transmitting the appropriate discovery codes.  It should be dropping out of
  277. warp, Chief.  Beam it aboard and let's see exactly what we've found.

  279. Dax walks to the rear of the ship and stands near the transporter as a small
  280. probe materializes with the text "U.S.S. Kepler".

  282. DAX
  283. The Kepler was a science vessel that passed through the wormhole about a year
  284. ago if I remember correctly.  The pod doesn't appear to have any anti-matter
  285. or battle damage, so it looks like the it was launched deliberately.

  287. Dax returns to the helm.

  289. (cont'd)
  290. Computer, download and play the Kepler's last log entry.
  291.  
  292. SOKAR
  293. (on computer screen)
  294. Captain's log, stardate four-eight-one-seven-five-point-five-two.  With two
  295. years and fifty-three days remaining in our exploration of the Gamma Quadrant
  296. we have already managed to catalog one hundred and seven star systems within
  297. sector four.  Of the one hundred and seven stars, we found a remarkable forty
  298. eight class M planets.  Of the forty eight class M planets, improbably all were
  299. inhabited by sentient life, yet none possessed warp space flight.  Thus we were
  300. prohibited by the Prime Directive from making first contact.  Inexplicably,
  301. twelve planets showed signs of large scale terraforming of originally dead
  302. worlds.  As we penetrate deeper into sector four, I anticipate discovering the
  303. answers to these intriguing mysteries.

  305. O'BRIEN
  306. According to it's register, the Kepler was on a three year survey mission to
  307. the Gamma Quadrant.  The ships complement was fifty-four.
  308.  
  309. DAX
  310. Computer, were there any anomalous ship functions following the recording of
  311. this log entry.
  312.  
  313. COMPUTER
  314. Affirmative, on stardate four-eight-one-seven-seven-point-one all class alpha
  315. data in the computer banks was purged.
  316.  
  317. O'BRIEN
  318. That's just before the recorder was launched.  They must've been trying to
  319. stop someone from getting information about the Federation or the wormhole.
  320.  
  321. DAX
  322. Let's see what was going on when Captain Sokar purged the computer banks.
  323.  
  324. Dax begins working the console.
  325.  
  326. INT - COMPUTER CONSOLE IMAGE
  327. An image of the opening events appears on the computer screen.  The picture is
  328. very blurred and full of static.  Much of the speech can't be made out and
  329. several key words are garbled beyond recognition.

  331. LIEUTENANT NGUYEN
  332. (on computer screen)
  333. Shields have collapsed.
  334.  
  335. CAPTAIN SOKAR
  336. (on computer screen)
  337. Computer, initiate computer records purge of all class alpha data.

  347. Badarojans identifying them as the same species as the Bajorans.

  351. Where is this <unintelligible> you <unintelligible>?

  353. CAPTAIN SOKAR
  354. (on computer screen)
  355. I ... I do not know what you are referring to.
  356.  
  357. INT - RUNABOUT
  358. Dax and O'brien watch as the shape-shifter approaches and engulfs Sokar on the
  359. computer screen.

  361. DAX
  362. The flight data indicates the Kepler was caught in some shield draining tractor
  363. beam.  
  364.  
  365. O'BRIEN
  366. Even with the stations computers I may have some difficulty clearing up
  367. interference like that.
  368.  
  369. DAX
  370. Chief, keep your eyes on the ships sensors, I don't want any ships following us
  371. as we approach the worm hole.  It looks like we've finally found Odo's family.
  372.  
  373.  
  374. ACT TWO
  375.  
  376. INT - STATION PASSAGEWAY
  377. Quark and Rom and walking carefully down the unpopulated passageway.
  378.  
  379. QUARK
  380. Where is this smuggler Jacotin suppose to be?
  381.  
  382. Rom begans typing at a hand computer
  383.  
  384. ROM
  385. (fumbling)
  386. Let's see he's...
  387.  
  388. QUARK
  389. Give me that you idiot!  Here we go, he should be in quarters G-one-eighteen.
  390. Just around the corner.
  391.  
  392. Rom walks towards a door, but Quark pushes him out of the way.
  393.  
  394. QUARK
  395. (cont'd)
  396. Let me handle this.  You've done enough already.
  397.  
  398. ROM
  399. Yes brother.
  400.  
  401. Quark opens the door revealing a very large and strong alien.
  402.  
  403. JACOTIN
  404. What do you want!
  405.  
  406. QUARK
  407. We have business to discuss.
  408.  
  409. Quark displays a bar of gold-pressed latinum.

  411. QUARK
  412. (cont'd)
  413. Business which should prove very profitable to you.

  415. Jacotin grabs Quark and lifts him off the ground.

  417. JACOTIN
  418. (disgusted)
  419. Business?  With the likes of you?  Enter my quarters again and I'll be
  420. auctioning off your body parts.
  421.  
  422. ROM
  423. Uh, excuse me.  We've brought apples for your daughter.
  424.  
  425. Quark stares at Rom in utter disbelief, but Jacotin lets go of Quark.
  426.  
  427. JACOTIN
  428. You two are smugglers?
  429.  
  430. ROM
  431. Actually, we are your employers.  The other smuggler was captured trying to
  432. leave Bajor.
  433.  
  434. JACOTIN
  435. Then he was weak
  436.  
  437. Jacotin produces a stone relic.
  438.  
  439. JACOTIN
  440. (cont'd)
  441. I was promised three bars of gold-pressed latinum.
  442.  
  443. QUARK
  444. Well actually, that was conditional on both...
  445.  
  446. Quark trails off as Jacotin stares at him.

  448. QUARK
  449. Yes, well, here you are, three bars.
  450.  
  451. Quark hands Jacotin the three bars and takes the artifact.  Quark and Rom walk
  452. off.

  454. QUARK
  455. Why did you tell him we were his employers.  That's the last time I bring you
  456. along with me during business.

  459. Yes brother.  Why did we pay three bars of latinum for this stone?
