- Here's the beginning of a script I'm working on which introduces the Dominion.
- The script only covers about the first ten minutes of the show, but the major
- revealation about the Dominion takes place at the beginning. Any comments
- are appreciated of course. Thanks and enjoy! (now if the writers only hold
- off talking about the Dominion and I can finish the script before next
- season starts filming)

- EXT - SPACE
- A small Federation science vessel, the U.S.S. Kepler, drops out of warp and
- approaches a planet with two moons.
-
- INT - KEPLER'S BRIDGE
- The bridge is populated by the Vulcan Captain Sokar, Lieutenant Nguyen at the
- helm, and several others in the background including one security officer.
-
- CAPTAIN SOKAR
- Proceed at one quarter impulse towards the class M planet. Are there any signs
- of the two ships.
-
- LIEUTENANT NGUYEN
- Negative, sir. Scanning planet. This planet appears to have a much higher
- level of technology than the others.
-
- Bridge begins to shake.
-
- EXT - KEPLER
- The ship is engulfed in a beam
-
- INT - KEPLER'S BRIDGE
- LIEUTENANT NGUYEN
- (cont'd)
- Captain, we've been caught in some kind of tractor beam originating from the
- second moon! It's slowly draining our shields as well. I estimate two minutes
- before shield collapse.
-
- CAPTAIN SOKAR
- Open hailing channels. This is Captain Sokar of the Federation survey ship
- Kepler. You have committed a hostile...
-
- A female Badarojan, who looks just like a Bajoran, appears on the Kepler's
- view screen.
-
- BADAROJAN 1
- (interrupting)
- I am of the Dominion. You will drop your shields and transfer all data in
- your computer banks now, or you will be destroyed.
-
- LIEUTENANT NGUYEN
- (surprise)
- A Bajoran?
-
- The Badarojan shows a look of surprise and quickly turns as the view screen
- goes blank.
-
- CAPTAIN SOKAR
- Warp seven Lieutenant Nguyen, try and break that tractor beam.
-
- EXT - KEPLER
- The beam suddenly intensifies growing much more opaque and shifting tone.
-
- INT - KEPLER'S BRIDGE
- Bridge shakes intensely.
-
- LIEUTENANT NGUYEN
- Shields have collapsed.
-
- CAPTAIN SOKAR
- Computer, initiate computer records purge of all class alpha data.
- Authorization Sokar omega two zeta seven. Lieutenant, launch the ship's log
- and recordin...
-
- Suddenly, three Badarojan officers and one shape-shifter in it's amorphous
- form beam onto the bridge. An "arm" of the shape shifter knocks down
- Lieutenant Nguyen. The security officer fires at the shape-shifter with no
- effect. The alien's fire at and kill several crew members including the
- security officer. The three along with the shape-shifter approach Sokar.
-
- BADAROJAN 2
- Where is this place you called Bajor?
-
- CAPTAIN SOKAR
- (slightly flustered)
- I ... I do not know what you are referring to.
-
- The shape-shifter approaches and engulfs Sokar, killing him. Lieutenant Nguyen
- slowly rises and touches the control panel. One of the Badarojan's turns at
- the sound and fires at Nguyen.
-
- EXT - KEPLER
- A small pod flies from the Kepler at high speed.

- ACT ONE
-
- EXT - STATION
-
- INT - QUARK'S BAR
- Bashir and Garak are sitting at one of Quark's tables.
-
- GARAK
- "The Dominion of Pa", "The Ring of Life", the great works of Bajoran
- literature are untold millennia old. The Bajoran religious texts were
- completed while humans and Cardassians were still hurling spears at woolly
- mammoths and grok pols.
-
- BASHIR
- Bajoran scholars studied on dozens of worlds before the war. I studied Daro
- myself while I was at Star Fleet Medical School.
-
- GARAK
- We brought the war, they were a peaceful people. The military had control
- over most of society and needed to continue to expand to survive.
-
- Garak glances across the bar towards Quark and back to Bashir.
-
- GARAK
- (cont'd)
- Have you been taking a liking to my surveillance lessons?
-
- BASHIR
- Yes. If you notice, it seems Quark is up to something. See the way he keeps
- looking around, as if expecting someone to show up any second.
-
- GARAK
- Good. What else?
-
- BASHIR
- I'd say he's worried about something...
-
- Bashir glances to then end of the room and sees Odo who is also observing
- Quark.
-
- BASHIR
- (cont'd)
- I see why. It seems Odo has taken an interest in our subject as well.
-
- Quark approaches Bashir and Garak.
-
- QUARK
- Anything I can get for you gentlemen?
-
- BASHIR
- No thank you Quark.
-
- GARAK
- Earlier the good Doctor and I were discussing the Bajoran culture and religion.
-
- QUARK
- Is that so?
-
- GARAK
- Yes. Isn't it amusing, Doctor, that old Cardassian soldiers are so interested
- in acquiring Bajoran religious artifacts. Some have quite extensive collections
- that they began during the occupation and are expanding this very day.
-
- Quark begins to squirm a little
-
- GARAK
- (cont'd, to Quark)
- Cardassian soldiers always seem to have the money to purchase such items
-
- QUARK
- (flustered)
- I wouldn't know. Excuse me Doctor. I have someone to attend to.
-
- BASHIR
- Yes, of course, Quark.
-
- Quark leaves Bashir and Garak.
-
- BASHIR
- What was that all about?
-
- GARAK
- Let's just say that there's a number of ways to improve upon simple visual
- surveillance.
-
- INT - QUARK'S BAR
- Quark walks up to Odo who is waiting at the far end of the bar.
-
- QUARK
- What brings you by today, Odo? Just the usual harassment or do you have
- something special planned for me today.
-
- ODO
- Perhaps I am simply enjoying your renowned hospitality.
-
- Quark begins to turn and leave.
-
- QUARK
- Not likely.
-
- ODO
- Indeed.
-
- Quark turns around with realization.
-
- QUARK
- Why don't you go entertain the paying customers. How about that Cardassian
- neck trick, or maybe you could try turning into a Dabo girl?
-
- ODO
- Hmmph.
-
- Odo starts to walk out then turns around.
-
- ODO
- (cont'd)
- You wouldn't happen to know anything about this smuggler the Bajorans caught,
- would you? Apparently he was bringing stolen Bajoran religious relics to the
- station.
-
- QUARK
- Why Odo, you know I would never-
-
- ODO
- (interrupting)
- I'm sure. It's a shame he is refusing to cooperate, things would go better
- for him if he turned in his cohorts.
-
- QUARK
- It's nice to know you have his best interests in mind. I don't suppose
- shape-shifters have any concept of loyalty.
-
- ODO
- Rule of Acquisition number one-eighteen, if I'm not mistaken: All loyalty is
- for profit.
-
- Odo smiles and resumes his exit. Quark frantically motions Rom. Rom
- approaches Quark.
-
- QUARK
- Did you make sure those smugglers didn't know who they were suppose to meet on
- the station.
-
- ROM
- (slightly trembling)
- Yes brother. Each has part of a message, only when the meet each other can
- they decode the message to come to the bar. Is it not brilliant brother, I
- though of it my-
-
- QUARK
- (interrupting)
- You idiot Rom! One of the smugglers was captured trying to get off Bajor. I
- have half an ear to get out of the Bajoran artifact trade. Those Bajorans take
- their religion too seriously.
-
- ROM
- Yes brother.
-
- EXT - RUNABOUT
-
- INT - RUNABOUT
- Dax and O'brien sitting at the helm.
-
- DAX
- Benjamin tells me Jake's really enjoying his work with you.
-
- O'BRIEN
- Yeah, he's a good kid. Just yesterday I... Hold on, I'm picking up an object
- heading towards us at warp nine-point-nine! It's a starship flight recorder!
-
- DAX
- I'm transmitting the appropriate discovery codes. It should be dropping out of
- warp, Chief. Beam it aboard and let's see exactly what we've found.
-
- Dax walks to the rear of the ship and stands near the transporter as a small
- probe materializes with the text "U.S.S. Kepler".
-
- DAX
- The Kepler was a science vessel that passed through the wormhole about a year
- ago if I remember correctly. The pod doesn't appear to have any anti-matter
- or battle damage, so it looks like the it was launched deliberately.
-
- Dax returns to the helm.
- DAX
- (cont'd)
- Computer, download and play the Kepler's last log entry.
-
- SOKAR
- (on computer screen)
- Captain's log, stardate four-eight-one-seven-five-point-five-two. With two
- years and fifty-three days remaining in our exploration of the Gamma Quadrant
- we have already managed to catalog one hundred and seven star systems within
- sector four. Of the one hundred and seven stars, we found a remarkable forty
- eight class M planets. Of the forty eight class M planets, improbably all were
- inhabited by sentient life, yet none possessed warp space flight. Thus we were
- prohibited by the Prime Directive from making first contact. Inexplicably,
- twelve planets showed signs of large scale terraforming of originally dead
- worlds. As we penetrate deeper into sector four, I anticipate discovering the
- answers to these intriguing mysteries.
-
- O'BRIEN
- According to it's register, the Kepler was on a three year survey mission to
- the Gamma Quadrant. The ships complement was fifty-four.
-
- DAX
- Computer, were there any anomalous ship functions following the recording of
- this log entry.
-
- COMPUTER
- Affirmative, on stardate four-eight-one-seven-seven-point-one all class alpha
- data in the computer banks was purged.
-
- O'BRIEN
- That's just before the recorder was launched. They must've been trying to
- stop someone from getting information about the Federation or the wormhole.
-
- DAX
- Let's see what was going on when Captain Sokar purged the computer banks.
-
- Dax begins working the console.
-
- INT - COMPUTER CONSOLE IMAGE
- An image of the opening events appears on the computer screen. The picture is
- very blurred and full of static. Much of the speech can't be made out and
- several key words are garbled beyond recognition.
-
- LIEUTENANT NGUYEN
- (on computer screen)
- Shields have collapsed.
-
- CAPTAIN SOKAR
- (on computer screen)
- Computer, initiate computer records purge of all class alpha data.
- Authorization Sokar omega two zeta seven. Lieutenant, launch the ship's log
- and recordin-
-
- On the screen, three Badarojan officers and one shape-shifter in it's natural
- form beam onto the bridge. An "arm" of the shape shifter knocks down
- Lieutenant Nguyen. The security officer fires at the shape-shifter with no
- effect. The alien's fire at and kill several crew members including the
- security officer. The three along with the shape-shifter approach Sokar. The
- computer image is too hazy to make out the distinctive nose ridges of the
- Badarojans identifying them as the same species as the Bajorans.
-
- BADAROJAN 2
- (on computer screen)
- Where is this <unintelligible> you <unintelligible>?
-
- CAPTAIN SOKAR
- (on computer screen)
- I ... I do not know what you are referring to.
-
- INT - RUNABOUT
- Dax and O'brien watch as the shape-shifter approaches and engulfs Sokar on the
- computer screen.
-
- DAX
- The flight data indicates the Kepler was caught in some shield draining tractor
- beam.
-
- O'BRIEN
- Even with the stations computers I may have some difficulty clearing up
- interference like that.
-
- DAX
- Chief, keep your eyes on the ships sensors, I don't want any ships following us
- as we approach the worm hole. It looks like we've finally found Odo's family.
-
-
- ACT TWO
-
- INT - STATION PASSAGEWAY
- Quark and Rom and walking carefully down the unpopulated passageway.
-
- QUARK
- Where is this smuggler Jacotin suppose to be?
-
- Rom begans typing at a hand computer
-
- ROM
- (fumbling)
- Let's see he's...
-
- QUARK
- Give me that you idiot! Here we go, he should be in quarters G-one-eighteen.
- Just around the corner.
-
- Rom walks towards a door, but Quark pushes him out of the way.
-
- QUARK
- (cont'd)
- Let me handle this. You've done enough already.
-
- ROM
- Yes brother.
-
- Quark opens the door revealing a very large and strong alien.
-
- JACOTIN
- What do you want!
-
- QUARK
- We have business to discuss.
-
- Quark displays a bar of gold-pressed latinum.
-
- QUARK
- (cont'd)
- Business which should prove very profitable to you.
-
- Jacotin grabs Quark and lifts him off the ground.
-
- JACOTIN
- (disgusted)
- Business? With the likes of you? Enter my quarters again and I'll be
- auctioning off your body parts.
-
- ROM
- Uh, excuse me. We've brought apples for your daughter.
-
- Quark stares at Rom in utter disbelief, but Jacotin lets go of Quark.
-
- JACOTIN
- You two are smugglers?
-
- ROM
- Actually, we are your employers. The other smuggler was captured trying to
- leave Bajor.
-
- JACOTIN
- Then he was weak
-
- Jacotin produces a stone relic.
-
- JACOTIN
- (cont'd)
- I was promised three bars of gold-pressed latinum.
-
- QUARK
- Well actually, that was conditional on both...
-
- Quark trails off as Jacotin stares at him.
-
- QUARK
- Yes, well, here you are, three bars.
-
- Quark hands Jacotin the three bars and takes the artifact. Quark and Rom walk
- off.
-
- QUARK
- Why did you tell him we were his employers. That's the last time I bring you
- along with me during business.
-
- ROM
- Yes brother. Why did we pay three bars of latinum for this stone?
